Jobs

We've been around for seven years (think fun like a startup, but we're sure the lights are going to stay on) and we've been working with Rails since early 2005. We love being active participants in the Ruby community. We sponsored the early development of Mongrel, co-founded the local user group (NYC.rb!), helped organize the first annual GoRuCo (Gotham Ruby Conference), we're Ruby/Rails book authors and are regular speakers and attendees at the conferences.

Our client list ranges from Fortune 500 companies like McGraw-Hill (NYSE: MHP), to Web 2.0 communities like Panasonic's Share the Air and Flavorpill. We built the first Rails OpenID client/server for VeriSign, the New York Jets, and an SMS platform for Mobile Commons, a startup that runs text message-based programs for political/advocacy groups. In short, we work on cool projects with a big impact.

Full-time, in-house Ruby/Rails developer
Eastmedia is looking to add a full-time Ruby/Rails developer in New York City immediately.
What to expect:
  • Working with and contributing to the latest and greatest Ruby technologies. (We use RSpec and Rails trunk.) We're also Rubinius committers and can't wait to run our apps on it.
  • Relaxed working environment (Wear what you want... as long as it's not a suit.)
  • Our office is in the heart of Manhattan, blocks from Times Square, Madison Square Garden, and within walking distance of damn near everything
  • An all-Mac office, though we could probably squeeze in a PC/*nix machine if you haven't switched yet
  • Salary, bonuses, medical, dental, vision, paid vacation and all that jazz
What we're looking for:
  • Most important, you're passionate about the craft of software engineering and love building cool Web applications
  • Appreciation for Test/Behavior Driven Development and agile software development (we're not zealots, we're just practical)
  • Production Ruby on Rails experience
  • Comfortable with semantic XHTML and CSS (not necessarily design)
